At Old School House Nursery, the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a secure, nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and protected at all times.

Our safeguarding practices are built around clear policies, thorough procedures and a culture of vigilance across our entire team. All staff receive regular safeguarding training and are confident in recognising the signs of abuse or neglect, as well as understanding the appropriate steps to take should they have any concerns. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) works closely with staff, families and external agencies to ensure that any concerns are managed promptly, sensitively and in line with current guidance.

We follow safer recruitment procedures to ensure that all adults working with children are suitable and appropriately vetted. This includes enhanced DBS checks, references and ongoing suitability checks. Staff are also trained in areas such as paediatric first aid, online safety and promoting children’s emotional wellbeing.

Safeguarding is embedded into our everyday practice. We teach children about personal safety in an age-appropriate way, helping them to understand boundaries, build confidence and develop the skills to express their feelings. Our environment is carefully monitored, with secure entry systems and clear procedures for arrivals, departures and visitors.

We believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are essential. We encourage open communication and are always available to discuss any concerns or questions. By working together, we can ensure that every child is supported both within nursery and at home.

At Old School House Nursery, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are dedicated to providing a safe, caring and protective environment where every child can thrive.
