At Old School House Nursery, we believe every child should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our Sensory Library provides a calm, welcoming space where children who may benefit from additional support can take part in carefully planned activities that encourage confidence, communication and early development.
This space is led by our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), who works closely with our team, families and external professionals to ensure each child receives the right support. Activities within the Sensory Library are thoughtfully tailored to meet individual needs, allowing children to develop at their own pace in a relaxed and nurturing setting.
Children may spend time in the Sensory Library for a range of reasons, including support with speech and language, communication, emotional regulation, sensory exploration or small group learning. The quieter environment helps children to focus, while receiving gentle encouragement and guidance from our experienced practitioners.
We value strong partnerships with parents and carers, and where appropriate, collaborate with external professionals to support each child’s development both in nursery and at home. By creating an inclusive environment and offering personalised support, we help every child feel confident, valued and ready to engage fully in nursery life.
Our aim is for every child to feel understood, supported and empowered to reach their full potential throughout their early years.
